About PA Puck

Pennsylvania Puck's mission is to be the best source for ice hockey news in Pennsylvania, featuring the sport at all levels: youth to high school, junior to college, minor league to the National Hockey League.

First and foremost, Pennsylvania Puck is a news organization, with an unwavering commitment to the journalistic hallmarks of accuracy, fairness and integrity.

Likewise, we will show respect for and offer stewardship of the great game of ice hockey, with its rich history, speed, skill and grace.

Our content will have three primary purposes:

  • To take readers and viewers behind the scenes and into places where they – and most media – typically don’t go;
  • To give young hockey players and parents news they can use to make smart choices about skating and playing, health and nutrition, and equipment;
  • To provide multiple means by which readers and viewers may interact constructively with Pennsylvania Puck. These will include contributing to stories as sources, commenting on published stories, blogging, uploading photos.

About The Editor

Neal Goulet[]

On the night of March 4, 1975, Neal Goulet attended his first professional hockey game. His hometown Maine Nordiques hosted the Johnstown Jets. The visitors won – and won over a young fan mesmerized by the speed, grit and color of a team that became a model for the movie “Slap Shot.”

The Nordiques folded but were succeeded by the Maine Mariners, whose first broadcaster was Mike Emrick, who later handled play-by-play for the Philadelphia Flyers. Neal still has a game program signed by Mariners players – courtesy of his pen pal Emrick.

A graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism, Neal arrived in Pennsylvania in 1991 as a reporter for the York Daily Record. He later settled in Hershey, where he lives with his wife, Sara, step-daughter, Susanna, and son, Jack.

Since 2003, he has owned Goulet Communications LLC, which provides public relations services. He founded Pennsylvania Puck LLC in 2011.
