Home games Saturday and Sunday against Atlantic Division rival Elmira drew nearly 10,000 fans to Sovereign Center and pushed the Reading Royals average attendance to 3,887 through six home dates.
The Royals rank 10th in average attendance in the 20-team ECHL. The league average is 3,968.
The Stockton (Calif.) Thunder are No. 1, averaging 7,207 for four home games, while the expansion Chicago Express are last at 2,360 per game through seven dates at the 9,400-seat Sears Centre in suburban Hoffman Estates, Ill.
The Wheeling (W.Va.) Nailers are 18th in attendance, averaging 2,709 in four home dates. The Nailers will play 10 of their “home” games in Johnstown, Pa., starting Friday against the Trenton Devils.
